Best Takeout Restaurants in St. Maarten

If you are like me I like to stay on St.Martin/Maarten for a few months at a time, even though there are more than a hundred restaurants on the island, and we do try to sample as many as possible, we always seem to end up going to these favorites more frequently when on a budget.

Spaghetti House

This is most definitely by far my favourite Italian pasta take out restaurant on the island. If you’re looking for authentic delicious home cooked pasta you’ve got to try this tiny place in Cupecoy. There’s a laid back relaxed atmosphere in the air, as the owner comes to your table to see how the food is or if everything is satisfactory.

You are made to feel right at home even on your first visit. They offer the usual pasta dishes, as well as daily specials starting at about $12 a plate and up. Start with some carpaccio or salad, a few glasses of wine and the desert of the day! What a meal Mamma Mia. Located in Cupecoy, very close to the American University.

Captain D’s Roadside Grill

This little barbecue shack is a force to be reckoned with. Serving Authentic Caribbean with the usual Barbecue Chicken and Ribs you will also notice the daily seafood specials. Sides are all just delicious, potato salad, coleslaw, and mac and cheese are a few top players at Captain D’s.

It’s quiet easy to find. You will see Captain D’s as soon as you pass the draw bridge in Simpson Bay, on your way to town. Just hang a right into the big parking lot with the Levi’s sign. Anything can happen while you’re there.

Captain D’s is a local favorite, and the dishes are well priced and as I call it, American portions, just starting at around $10 dollars and up, and drinks are always cheap. You can sit down and enjoy your food on a picnic table right there, you’ll never know when a dance party could break out.

Driftwood Boat Bar

Guy’s Driftwood Boat Bar is an easy spot to find at the beginning of the runway on Maho Beach. Great spot to watch the planes take off and land. Enjoy yourself on the beach or at the bar. The food is very affordable.

The menu consists of the usual Caribbean barbecue jerk chicken or ribs, and lots of American favorites to choose from, including hotdogs, hamburgers and pizza, all available for take out.

However I do recommend the chicken shawarma, it’s fantastic. The atmosphere is casual and very friendly, the service is great ! Best place for happy hour. Only problem is parking.

Lee’s Roadside Bar and Grill

Lee’s roadside bar and grill is an institution, from day one. Since 1997 I have been frequenting this amazing restaurant. You will never know who you will run into at Lee’s , everyone loves Lee’s from the locals , to the tourists, and even the rich and famous, have been to Lee’s through out the years.

Local fare barbecue and seafood , huge portions with daily specials including lobster at market price, their potato salad is a must try. There’s some thing for everyone . And don’t for get to check out the cocktails at the bar while waiting for your food. If you wish stay and join the party, every night there’s live music!

Rialto Pizza and Pasta

Rialto is fast, and conveniently located in Maho, across from the Sonesta Maho hotel, and next door to the Casino Royale. With an extensive pizza and pasta menu starting at $10 dollars. Rialto is sure to please any pizza lover.

After dinner you could enjoy their local ice cream. Friendly fast service in a relaxed island atmosphere we frequent Rialto for take out almost everyday, open late on weekends, and is a great spot to eat and people watch.

Dish D’lish

This small joint is on the strip in Simpson Bay. If you are driving in from the airport, it’s on the right side don’t miss it! The food is Caribbean style the usual suspects chicken and ribs, also plantains are amazing. Besides a bunch of other tasty dishes pick up a container and enjoy on the beach. One other thing best service ever, we were treated like royalty.

Farfal Pizza

This little gem of a place is in Sandy Ground on the French side, it’s been there as long as I have been visiting SXM since 1995 or probably even before then. Thin crust pizza with an array of toppings to choose from. Cash only. At a glance the place is a hole in the wall, but once you taste the pizza, you’re hooked for life!!!

Fat Tony’s

This barbecue heaven has a university casual vibe, having said that, the staff and the owner are very friendly. It’s American pub fare. They do serve up a great steak on Tuesdays. It’s a good idea to wait at the bar while tasting one of their craft beers. Fat Tony’s is a fun place for the whole family to hang out anytime.

Winnie’s Chinese Restaurant

Winnie’s is tucked away behind the Casino Royale in Maho. They’re open for lunch and dinner, take out or dine in. If you are craving Chinese food , this restaurant is highly recommended.

Prices are fair, and you will be satisfied with the portions. If you are like me and love Chinese food, this place is a must on your list. Always a great meal at Winnie’s. Everything is cooked fresh and tastes better than any Chinese restaurant I‘ve ever visited.
